Call for Theses
European Talent Award for Innovative Energy Systems 2010
The European Foundation for Power Engineering (EFPE) has the goal to discover and to encourage young engineering talent in the field of energy systems, in particular power or combined heat and power generation and emerging sustainable technologies for power production.
EFPE is pleased to announce the year’s European Call for Theses. Graduate students who have completed (or are close to completion of) their engineering degree at the Master’s level in the field of power engineering are invited to submit a summary of their thesis as well as a copy of the thesis itself to be considered for the European Talent Award for Innovative Energy Systems.
After eleven years of successful competitions with award ceremonies in Frankfurt (1999), Helsinki (2000), Brussels (2001), Milan (2002), Düsseldorf (2003), Barcelona (2004), Milan (2005), Cologne (2006), Madrid (2007), Milan (2008) and Cologne (2009), EFPE and the jury are convinced that this contest will continue to benefit graduating engineers who would like to demonstrate their qualification and talent, and to the benefit of the stakeholders looking for young talent to join their staff. EFPE thus will continue this competition that only can take place with the generous sponsorship of distinguished companies from the power generation industry. For more information, visit our website www.efpe.org.
The European Talent Award will be presented at Amsterdam during the POWER-GEN Europe 2010 Conference. This conference is expected to attract over 10,000 representatives from the power generation industry and will last three days from 8 to 10 June 2010. The exact time and place of the ceremony for the European Talent Award will be announced in time.
The jury listed below will pre-select the six most attractive theses. Out of these six nominees, the jury will select the three best theses, which will be rewarded by the European Talent Award for Innovative Energy Systems during the 2010 ceremony at Amsterdam. One of the winners will have the opportunity to present his/her thesis to an invited audience consisting of the jury, sponsors, publishers, and experts from the power generation industry. In addition, the winners will receive an award as well as a financial contribution, and they have the opportunity to visit the POWER-GEN Europe 2010 exhibition.
Theses that have the best chance of being selected should comply with the following criteria:
· Recommendation of the thesis by the responsible university professor
· Clear description of scope and objective of the thesis
· Methodology used (simulation and/or experiments)
· Technical features (innovative ideas)
· Technical, environmental and/or economical evaluation
· Indication of opportunities for commercialisation
Graduate students who wish their master thesis to be considered should:
- notify EFPE by fax of their intent to participate (see Reply Form below)
- submit by e-mail a self-prepared 5 to 8 page summary (plus up to five illustrations) in English
- send full thesis preferably in digital format to:
